Vision and missions

SILAB is positioned as a leading academic research centre in French-speaking Switzerland in terms of innovation and exploring the future of healthcare. Acting as a catalyst for knowledge, skills and reflective practice, it places students at the heart of its governance and recognises them as key contributors to the collective process.

SILAB focuses its work on two complementary missions:

  • To innovate by exploring and experimenting with emerging approaches to teaching and professional practice that inspire and transform organisations, and healthcare delivery

  • To anticipate change by encouraging critical reflection societal and technological developments, identifying emerging trends and preparing for the skills and practices of the future

These missions complement the institution’s teaching and research activities. They place student engagement at their core and draw on numerous collaborations with academic, clinical, institutional and private-sector partners.
