Our approach
Research carried out at the teaching and research laboratory for child and family health (LER SEF) focuses on the health of children and families in all their forms (nuclear, blended, rainbow families) from an holistic perspective, informed by a family-centred approach. It aims to develop family nursing interventions capable of improving outcomes for children, families and healthcare professionals.
Assumptions
The LER SEF’s research activities are based on a legal and theoretical framework encompassing children’s rights, patients’ rights, the Code of Ethics for the nursing profession. These are grounded in the belief that children’s health and development are closely linked to family dynamics, social contexts and healthcare systems.
Based on evidence, the LER’s research aims to gain a better understanding of the experiences of children and their families and to develop nursing interventions tailored to their needs throughout the care pathway.
Sexual health and inclusion
The LER SEF is taking a growing interest in issues relating to young people’s sexual health, with a focus on wellbeing, inclusion and the recognition of diverse experiences. Research projects such as Red Drop, dedicated to designing a device to facilitate the analysis of menstrual blood, and Healing Drag, which examines the art of drag as a healing experience for queer young people, illustrate this focus. Through these initiatives, the LER aims to be a driving force in supporting young people in their identity and sexual development and in changing perceptions within care provision.
